Fred always talks about the value of his blog community. The commenters, etc. I figured it would be great fun to meet up (in person!) other DC area fans of Fred's and his blog.
Odds are, we have something in common.
My friend is the general manager of Mie N Yu (it's a funky place in G'town) and he's offered up food and discounted drinks.
I figured a bit later would be better to avoid traffic/parking issues (well, at least a little easier) and we'll see how it goes.
Space is limited, hence the ticket restrictions...
There's a backstory to this below (if you are interested), but hope you can make it.
Here's the email I sent to Fred to describe the event:
Met Andrew (from Union Sq. Ventures) this morning at the LaunchBox Digital event in Reston and I recognized his name and, of course, Union Sq. Ventures.
We got to chatting and I was telling him about the social media marketing work I’ve been doing for my clients Johnson & Johnson and NY Times Best-Selling author, Dan Pink since I left Microsoft in May.
One of Dan’s big revelations in terms of how we are marketing his new book is the value of bringing his community of fans together in a “Bunko Breakfast” format (here’s my post describing it). It’s basically a Dan Pink fan club meet-up. (BTW, his new book is The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You'll Ever Need. It's pretty neat. Of course, I'm biased and getting paid to promote it)
So, I asked Andrew when you were coming down to DC for a “Fred Wilson/AVC Meetup.” Then, I realized, we don’t even need you! It’s your fans (just like the commenters) who are the real value-add (no offense, of course, as it would be great to have you there!)
I should have thought of that earlier, as we made the same realization for Dan and are now doing a “DIY Bunko Breakfast Starter Kit offer”
Would love your help on this one! And, of course, we’ll
report back.

happy hour prices on drinks)
